Vascular
diagnoses are usually obtained by CAT scans, MRI’s,
and the following ultrasound exams:
Venous
Doppler-Ultrasound imaging of the upper and lower
extremity veins for diagnosis of blood clots, varicose
veins and analysis of superficial veins for suitability
for use in dialysis access and bypass grafts.
Arterial
Doppler-Ultrasound imaging of the upper and lower
extremity arteries for diagnosis of peripheral vascular
disease (PAD or PVD), aneurysms and artery injury.
Carotid
Doppler-Ultrasound imaging of the arteries in the
neck for diagnosis of blockage limiting the flow of
blood and oxygen to the brain, neck and face.
Peripheral
Arterial Doppler-examination of blood flow in the
extremities by use of blood pressure cuffs to demonstrate
decreases in the flow of blood to the hands and feet.
Abdominal
Doppler-Ultrasound imaging of the arteries that
transport blood to the abdominal organs for diagnosis
of blockage limiting the flow of blood to the kidneys,
colon and legs. This method is also used for diagnosis
of abdominal aneurysms.
